When a Tennessee Bear Claims a Chainsaw

When I was writing audio theater scripts, I used to have my lizard characters Dudley Dewlap and Miles Monitor talk about stories in the news. Now, I find myself doing the same thing with my blog. Some of these stories are just too crazy to be true!

The Right to Bear Tools

Nearly every day, we hear about US citizens’ right to bear arms. However, a bear in Tennessee was recently observed claiming his right as a bear to be armed with a tool.

When a man couldn’t find his brand-new $500 chainsaw, he checked his Ring video, perhaps expecting to see a human stealing it. Once he saw the image of the perpetrator, he could go after the culprit. However, he was rather surprised when he saw a black bear carrying off his new tool! Filing a police report would have been much simpler than tracking the bear to its home. The man wasn’t inclined to knock on the den door and politely ask for his property back, as he really didn’t want to meet the bear or his family members. A mother bear with her three cubs were known to be in the area. Maybe he should just consider the chainsaw to be a baby shower gift!

He considered methods of retrieving his chainsaw that would not involve an up close and personal encounter with the den occupants.

Hibernation Home Improvements

At this time of year, bears are getting their dens ready for hibernation over the winter. What he wanted the chainsaw for is unknown. Did he have some roots he needed trimmed out of the way? If you’re going to sleep for several months, you definitely need a comfy spot.

It may have been as simple as the man enjoying some roasted chicken while handling his new chainsaw. It’s best not to taint your tools with food flavors!
